PUBLIC POLICY FORUM TO BE HELD

CHARLESTON, WV -- Seizing Tomorrow’s Opportunities Today, a Public Policy Forum, will be held at Stonewall Jackson State Park, Roanoke, WV, November 16-18, 2003. The goal of the Policy Forum is to bring together state business leaders, legislative leaders, and key stakeholders in an exchange of ideas to develop, implement and sustain long-term policies to improve West Virginia’s social and economic future.

The West Virginia Policy Forum is a collaboration of Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love, PLLC, The Education Alliance, The West Virginia Hospital Association, The West Virginia Manufacturers Association, The West Virginia Roundtable, The West Virginia State Journal, and Vision Shared.

Featured speakers include Richard K. Lester, Professor of Nuclear Engineering and Founding Director, Industrial Performance Center, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Ralph Baxter, Chairman and CEO, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliff, LLP; and Tom Witt, Director, WVU Bureau of Business & Economic Research. Former Governor Gaston Caperton will deliver
the opening address.

The Forum represents an important first step in creating a meaningful discussion and collaborative dialogue around such issues as how to move policy development away from being crises driven to a more knowledge-based process policy based on solid information. Since healthcare plays such a vital role in the state’s economy, we hope to have good representation from hospital CEOs from around the state.

A good representation from the business community is essential to achieve our goal, so please feel free to share this information with your membership. Registration material is available by contacting Kathy Watts at kwatts@wvha.org or 304/344-9744.
