The Department of Health and Human Resources mission
is to promote and provide appropriate health and human services for the people
of West Virginia, in order to improve their quality of life.
Women,
Infants and Children (WIC) Program
WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women,
Infants and Children. WIC is a federally funded discretionary program. It provides
services to as many eligible individuals as funding allows.

Virginia Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
CHIP is a statewide program to help children of working parents
get the necessary and preventive health care they need to grow into strong,
healthy adults. A child's eligibility is based on age, the family's income and
lack of insurance.

Governor's Cabinet on Children and Families
The Cabinet works in partnership with local communities throughout
West Virginia to improve services for children and families.

Virginia Family Connections
West Virginia Family Connections seeks to strengthen and coordinate
community support for families in the education and developmental progress of
their children through the establishment of parental assistance centers which
will facilitate parental training in regional areas of West Virginia.

Community Voices
A partnership of higher education, State government, and the
community to improve health care for underserved populations in West Virginia.
The
West Virginia Prevention Network
The WVPRC was created to build and support a comprehensive, interactive
prevention system in West Virginia, which would contribute to the well being
of West Virginia's citizens.
